The picturesque South Hams town of Modbury has a great amount to offer including a bank, supermarket, Post Office, two pubs, The Exeter Inn and The White Hart and both a Chinese takeway and Indian restaurant as well as Bistro 35. The town has just inaugurated its Heritage Trails with interesting historical walks for you to follow through the town. St George’s church is just a few yards from the house and rumour has it there is a tunnel linking the two! From the church, you can walk down through the fields towards the Flete Estate, Orcheton and Wonwell Beach. The beach is opposite Mothecombe where “Sense & Sensibility” was filmed.
Your hosts, Michelle and Tony Hardisty have lived in Modbury for nearly 20 years and know the surrounding areas very well. Tony loves walking the South West Coastal Path and also on Dartmoor. Michelle also likes walking; however she’ll also be able to advise on excellent coffee/lunch/dinner venues particularly in Salcombe, Kingsbridge, Dartmouth and Newton Ferrers. Don’t forget the South Hams is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there are beautiful views around every corner!
